Candidate Privacy Notice

In this Privacy Notice references to “we” and “us” means the company to which you have submitted an application for a vacancy.

How we will use your personal information

If you are applying for a vacancy or registering your interest in working for the Lloyds Banking Group, we will collect certain information about you to enable us to process your application. Under the Data Protection Act 1998 you are entitled to know how we intend to use your personal information.

We will keep your personal details in Lloyds Banking Group databases. We will use and retain for as long as necessary the information you give us as part of the application process to allow us to consider your application and thereafter in connection with any employment relationship we or other companies in the Lloyds Banking Group have with you.

When assessing your application automated decision making systems may be used.

The information you provide may be used to obtain references from your current and previous employers. We will not contact your current employer until you have accepted a position with us.

Credit Referencing

With your consent, we may carry out searches at the Credit Reference Agencies (which will include information from the edited electoral roll) to help us verify your application details including any financial information you have disclosed. This search will provide information about you and anyone financially linked to you. However, we will only consider information relating to you when making any decision about your employment. This search may be recorded by the credit reference agencies but it will not be used by other lenders or insurers when assessing lending and insurance risks, although it may be used for debt tracing and to prevent money laundering.

If you ask, we will tell you which credit reference agencies we have used so that you can obtain a copy of your details from them.

Crime Prevention and Detection

We may also check your details with fraud prevention agencies. If false or inaccurate information is provided and fraud is identified, details will be passed to fraud prevention agencies. Law enforcement agencies may access and use this information. We and other organisations may also access and use this information to prevent fraud and money laundering, for example, when:

  • Checking details on applications for credit and credit related or other facilities;
  • Managing credit and credit related accounts or facilities;
  • Recovering debt;
  • Checking details on proposals and claims for all types of insurance; and
  • Checking details of job applicants and employees.

We and other organisations may access and use from other countries the information recorded by fraud prevention agencies.

Other ways we may use your personal information

Occasionally we need to give information to our agents and subcontractors so that they can provide a particular service for us. Sometimes we obtain services from countries outside Europe (such as India and the USA) that do not always have the same standard of Data Protection Laws as the United Kingdom. However, we will have the necessary controls and contracts in place to ensure that your information is protected and we will remain bound by our obligations under the Data Protection Act.

Disclosure

If you email us, or give us your email address, we will keep a record of it. We will not give your email address to any unauthorised third parties.

Record Retention

In the event that your application is unsuccessful, your details will be retained for 6 months, at which time they will be confidentially destroyed.

If you have applied for a speculative vacancy to our candidate pool, your application will be held on record for 6 months. We will contact you at 6 months to see if you wish to remain in our candidate pool. You may remove your details yourself at any time.

Right of Access to Personal Data

Under the Data Protection Act, you have the right of access to your personal data. The Act allows us to charge a fee of £10 for this service. If anything is inaccurate, please let us know and we will correct it.
